Chattanooga business owner Rick Davis charged with passing worthless checks

A Chattanooga business owner was arrested for a second time in less than a year on Tuesday evening.

The police report says 73-year-old Richard “Rick” Davis was arrested at his jewelry store in the 5300 of Brainerd Road.

According to court records, a Hamilton County grand jury indicted Richard “Rick” Davis on theft of property.

The report is limited in details about the investigation but says Davis is accused of passing worthless checks at his business around January 14, 2025.

Davis was booked at the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center on two counts of passing worthless checks.

He is scheduled to appear in court on March 17, 2025.

Davis is also charged with seven counts of theft in a separate case, following a grand jury indictment in October 2024.

His trial over the theft indictment is set to begin on February 6, 2025.
