Over the last day, Android phones and tablets have encountered a ‘Google Play Store keeps stopping’ error message.
That system warning usually appears when Android apps crash. However, Google Play is working normally as far as we can tell. There’s no impact to browsing, downloading, or updating apps outside of the message.
It has appeared several times for us in the past 24 hours, but there doesn’t appear to be any specific user action that triggers it. Something related to the Play Store might be crashing in the background.
We’re seeing it on Android phones and tablets. On our Pixel Tablet, “keeps stopping” appears and covers the Hub Mode clock. It most recently appeared twice over the course of an hour. Otherwise, on phones, whatever is happening isn’t particularly disruptive.
There’s no obvious fix, but hopefully Google will address this on their end via server-side update.
