Saline County is starting the year with stronger sales and use tax collections year-over-year.
Numbers from the Missouri Department of Revenue and presented by county treasurer Jared Brewer show Saline County bringing in $112,430.60 in sales tax revenue during the month of December. That’s a four percent increase in collections compared to the previous year. Similar collections were also seen for the law enforcement and economic development taxes. Use tax collections during December saw an even stronger boost, up nine percent year-over-year to $86,509.11.
Because sales and use taxes are remitted to counties and local polities in the month following their collection, December’s collections are considered to be revenue received during the new year.
