Must read

UNLV online programs in nursing and psychology cracked the nation’s top 25 in U.S. News & World Report’s annual rankings of the best online degree programs, released Jan. 21.

The School of Nursing’s online master’s degree programs – which collectively placed 21st in the latest rankings – have been included in the nation’s top 30 each year since U.S. News began rating online nursing programs in 2012.

The university’s online bachelor’s degree in psychology ranked 25th and remained within the top 25 for the third consecutive year. Undergraduate programs in business also rated highly this year, ranking 54th. UNLV was also named one of the best options for military veterans, with its online bachelor’s degree options for student veterans coming in at number 70.

UNLV currently offers 41 fully online degree and certificate programs and hundreds of online course options. This spring, to meet a growing need for flexible and high-quality education options, UNLV is launching a new online MBA program and fully online and hybrid master’s degrees in cybersecurity

“In today’s increasingly tech-connected world, it’s crucial that universities respond to and anticipate the evolving needs of our students – and for UNLV that includes elevating the number of online and hybrid program offerings,” said UNLV President Keith E. Whitfield. “We’re giving more students than ever the flexibility to access high-quality and in-demand programs on their schedule, and from anywhere, which removes barriers and supports their path to success.”

The School of Nursing offers generalist and specialty master’s tracks in nurse educator preparation, family nurse practitioner, nurse midwifery, and psychiatric mental health. The school has emerged as one of the country’s most respected programs, as its traditional undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs also rank within U.S. News’ top 100.

UNLV’s online bachelor’s degree in psychology is designed for students seeking a liberal arts undergraduate degree and those intending to enter advanced training in psychology, education, medicine, or related fields. Additionally, the Lee Business School offers elements of many of its programs online, including fully online degree programs in entrepreneurship and marketing.

Near the beginning of each year, U.S. News & World Report ranks online undergraduate and graduate programs on various criteria, including expert opinion and engagement, faculty credentials and expertise, services and technologies that allow for flexible distance learning, and resulting student excellence.
