Google, at its Made by Google 2023 event, launched the Pixel Watch 2 with a slew of upgrades and new features. Check all the features and details here.
Google has finally launched its second-generation Pixel Watch 2 during its Made by Google 2023 event alongside the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones. The watch comes with a range of upgrades and features compared to the last-generation model, despite its similar appearance—with the same curved glass on the front and circular dial shape. Last year, when the Pixel Watch launched alongside the Pixel 7 series, it did not debut in India. However, this year, the Pixel Watch 2 will also be available in India.
The watch also doubles down on its fitness-centric features by incorporating three new multi-path sensors—which makes the Pixel Watch 2 capable of detecting body temperature, improving heart rate measurement by 40 percent, and even assessing the body’s stress levels.
Pixel Watch 2 Specifications and Features
Google Pixel Watch 2 retains the same display size as the first-generation Pixel Watch, featuring an OLED Display with 320PPI and 1000 nits of peak brightness. The watch is now powered by a new faster Qualcomm 5100 quad core processor.
With the new Pixel Watch 2, Google has improved its workout tracking capabilities, thanks to the new multi-path sensors, and the watch also features the redesigned Fitbit app which offers a range of new tabs, and coupled with new AI features.  The app also offers personal health-related questions based on your metrics, and even gives users detailed charts about fitness data. But this new ‘Fitbit labs’ program will be rolling out next year.
Another valuable feature the watch offers is the ‘Safety check.’ This feature allows users to set a timer, and when the time elapses, the watch will check in on the user to inquire about their well-being. If there is no response, the watch will share the user’s real-time location with emergency contacts. This has been ported over from the Pixel phones.
Regarding battery life, Google claims that the Pixel Watch 2 will provide 24 hours of battery life from its 306 mAh battery cell. It also gives you 12 hours of use in just 30 minutes of charging time. Additionally, the Pixel Watch 2 is constructed from 100% recycled aluminium, moving away from the stainless steel used in the last-generation model.
