Judge Hesitant To Let Apple Intervene in US-Google Search Case

A D.C. federal judge appeared reluctant Friday to let Apple Inc. intervene in a US monopoly case against Alphabet Inc’s Google to defend its billion-dollar deals with the online search giant.

Apple’s bid comes as the US District Court for the District of Columbia considers remedies from a landmark decision that Google illegally monopolized web search through exclusive third-party agreements.

It’s not clear how Google’s own defense in the matter wouldn’t adequately cover Apple’s interests, Judge Amit Mehta said during a Friday status conference.
