Google Store showing Pixel 9 prices that assume trade-ins

Must read

The Google Store has made an interesting change that shows the price of Pixel 9 phones if the buyer trades-in a device.

Across the Google Store, we’re seeing the price of a Pixel 9 phone “after eligible trade-in and discount.” The latter is in reference to $150 off the Pixel 9, 9 Pro, and 9 Pro XL or $300 off the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

  • Pixel 9 “From $379” | “Save up to $420”: “$270 estimated trade in value for Pixel 9 based on trade in value of Pixel 7 device.”
  • Pixel 9 Pro “From 449” | “Save up to $550”: “$400 estimated trade in value for Pixel 9 Pro based on trade in value of Pixel 7 Pro device.”
  • Pixel 9 Pro Fold “From $1,099” | “Save up to $700”: “$400 estimated trade in value for Pixel 9 Pro Fold based on trade in value of Pixel 7 Pro device.”
    • All values based on devices in good condition: turns on, is free of cracks, and the screen works properly.

This is appearing on the homepage’s main product carousel, the “Phones” category page, and the top-right corner of product listings for the Pixel 9 series. The Pixel 8a and other devices that support trade-ins, like the Pixel Watch and Tablet, are not seeing this change.

So far, we’re only seeing this when signed in with one particular Google Account. It’s not appearing on others we checked, or when logged out. This could just be a test that the Google Store is trialing.
