A new wave of innovation is driving demand for AI-driven infrastructure to unprecedented levels, according to infrastructure-based connectivity provider Lightpath.

The provider, which operates a portfolio of custom-engineered connectivity solutions, operates a fiber-optic network that spans 10,800 route miles, including metro areas like Boston, New York, and Miami.

“At the end of 2024, Lightpath’s AI-related infrastructure opportunities pipeline totaled nearly $1 billion,” a release from the company this week stated.

Additionally, the Jan. 16 revealed that Lightpath had booked almost $110 million in AI-driven digital infrastructure sales to hyperscalers throughout 2024.

Rachel Stack, the CFO of Lightpath, spoke on the emerging trends surrounding AI in the company’s announcement.

“The current momentum around AI represents an exciting opportunity for Lightpath,” Stack said. “We believe we’ve only begun to tap the economic potential of AI-driven demand and anticipate that it will serve as a key growth vehicle for years to come.”

According to the company’s announcement, an increased emphasis is being placed on reducing latency and enhancing network security measures.

“AI deployments require greater bandwidth than ever before,” Lightpath’s release stated. “This surge in demand represents a generational opportunity to reshape fiber infrastructure in the U.S., revolutionizing how organizations connect their digital destinations over the next decade.”

Lightpath is currently seeing significant demand across 10 new and existing markets, the provider shared.
