Nevada’s first mobile grocery store brings shopping to underserved communities

The Just One Project has unveiled Nevada’s first-ever Mobile Grocery Store, a new initiative to provide nutritious and affordable groceries to Las Vegas food desert residents.

This innovative program is part of the Groceries on the Go initiative, a collaboration with UnitedHealthcare Health Plan of Nevada Medicaid, which has already established three no-cost community markets.

The Mobile Grocery Store, set inside a renovated school bus donated by the Clark County School District, is equipped with refrigeration and storage and offers the amenities of a full-service store.

Powered by the NV Energy Foundation, the store will travel throughout Las Vegas, increasing access to fresh, whole foods for communities with limited options.

A new partnership with the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System will also focus on addressing food insecurity among veterans by improving their access to healthy food.

The Groceries on the Go program currently serves 11 sites across Las Vegas and plans to expand to more communities by 2025.
