The Teacher Retirement System of Texas has announced new commitments totalling $175 million across two infrastructure funds, according to a source at the institution.
The Austin-based pension fund committed $150 million to Northampton Capital Partners. The fund, which launched in November 2024, is targeting core opportunities, with an emphasis on digital infrastructure, power and transmission, and transport in North America.
A $25 million commitment was also made to AL GCX Fund VIII Co-Invest, managed by ArcLight Capital Partners. This fund also targets core opportunities, with an emphasis on the power and transmission sector, in North America and Western Europe.
Texas TRS currently allocates 6.8 percent of its investment portfolio to private equity, exceeding its target allocation of 6 percent. The infrastructure portfolio amounts to $14.39 billion.
