President Mitch Henry presents Hunter Wilson with the Accomplished Alumnus Award.

Hunter Wilson graduated from Faulkner University, earning both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree and was honored during the 2024 Marketplace Faith Friday Forums as the Accomplished Alumnus for the Harris College of Business.

After earning his Bachelor’s in Science of Accounting in 2017, Wilson was so pleased with his experience at Faulkner that he pursued and completed his Master’s in Business Administration in 2018.

“I had a great experience at Faulkner. The small class sizes allowed me to get a great understanding of the material while forcing me to be very involved in each class. The relationships I was able to build with my professors and peers taught me how to work with others in a professional environment which is a rare skill in many workplaces I have encountered,” Wilson said.

“My education and professors at Faulkner laid the foundation for my career. I learned how to work hard, ask questions, and always look to learn from my experiences. The professors taught me how to build relationships with superiors, which has been an invaluable tool in my career,” Wilson added. “They also held me accountable in my faith. This is an aspect that I am eternally grateful for. Faulkner and the staff here showed me how to cultivate my faith and keep in front and center daily. Chapel showed me no matter how busy my day may seem, it is important to spend that time in my faith daily.”

He began his professional journey in public accounting, specializing in tax and financial accounting. After four years, he transitioned to RemTerra, where he currently holds the position of Controller, focusing primarily on tax planning and consulting. Throughout his tenure at RemTerra, Hunter has actively participated in various conservation easement projects while ensuring compliance with IRS regulations.

“At RemTerra we provide tax planning and consulting for high net worth families,” Wilson said. “I oversee the accounts payable for projects that we develop for clients. I enjoy the challenges each client presents and finding different ways to preserve their capital.”

Additionally, he co-founded Marchelle Finance, a firm offering tax, accounting, and consulting services to small businesses. Through Marchelle Finance, Hunter has contributed to the establishment and growth of numerous startups across diverse industries. Outside of work, Hunter and his wife McKenzie are devoted to caring for their young daughter Maren.
