LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Michigan will use $34.7 million in federal grants to support multiple infrastructure projects across the state.
The funding comes from a series of grants, made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
“When we reconnect our communities, we provide Michiganders with safer access to the nearby businesses and services they need to live a successful life,” said U.S. Senator Gary Peters. “I was proud to support the bipartisan infrastructure law, which helped deliver these key investments to upgrade our critical infrastructure, create job opportunities, and revitalize neighborhoods across our state.”
Of the funding:
- $25 million will repair the East Beltlione Bridge in Grand Rapids
- $3.9 million will go towards the Eastside Jackson Commerce Connection
- 1.04 million for the Our Way for the Highway Planning Study in Lansing
- $2 million for the I-75 Cap Design Engineering Project in Detroit.
- $800,000 for the US-131 Freeway Crossing Improvements Planning Study in Grand Rapids
“These projects are about more than just roads and bridges—they are about building a more equitable and connected state,” said Zachary Kolodin, chief infrastructure officer of Michigan and director of the Michigan Infrastructure Office in a statement. “By prioritizing community needs, mobility, and environmental stewardship, we are laying the foundation for a stronger, more inclusive Michigan, where every resident has access to the vital services, opportunities and quality of life they deserve.”
