Meridian has had a surprising 7-2 start to the season and sit fifth in the Northwest Conference standings. The Trojans have one of the smallest winning margins in the conference, averaging about nine points more than opponents this season. Lynden Christian is also 7-2 and third in the conference. The Lyncs have scored nearly 61 points per game.
WWU women’s basketball vs. Central Washington
7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11 at Carver Gymnasium
Western Washington hosts its rival Central Washington in an early Great Northwest Athletic Conference matchup. The Vikings are 0-1 in the conference while the Wildcats are 1-0. Western has been plagued with injuries this season but has kept games close with some of its younger players in the lineup.
Open Track Night at Civic Stadium
5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8 at Civic Stadium
If people are interested in breaking a sweat or taking a walk in the fresh air, Civic Stadium’s track will be open every Wednesday until Feb. 26. There is no registration needed and the track will be open, depending on weather conditions, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. with the lights on. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
