WAVERLY, Neb. (KOLN) – The Lancaster County Board of Commissions announced they are committing $478,516 in federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to support the expansion of the City of Waverly’s water supply infrastructure on Tuesday.
The county board’s funding, which is part of $61.5 million in total ARPA funding Lancaster County has received, will be utilized for the permitting, right-of-way acquisition, drilling of test wells and engineering of additional well sites for Waverly.
Recently, the city released a request for proposal to several engineering firms seeking cost estimates on administering a test well program that will be utilized to gather core samples from up to thirteen different sites and provide a final report and recommendations on potential new well sources. The report will help determine the location of additional well sites for the city.
“As we come to the end of allocating ARPA funds, it is an honor to support Waverly in the expansion of their water supply,” Vice-Chair Rick Vest said. “The strong leadership operating in Waverly gives the board great confidence that the funds will be used for continued growth and development of this good community. I am pleased to announce this award on behalf of the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners.”
