Google appoints its new country manager and vice president for India

Google on Monday announced its new Country Manager and Vice President for India, appointing Preeti Lobana to the role. Preeti has replaced interim head Roma Datta Chobey and is succeeding Sanjay Gupta, who was elevated earlier this year to the position of President of the Asia-Pacific region. Preeti Lobana has been working with Google for eight years, previously serving as Vice President of gTech – Process, Partner, Publisher Operations, Ads Content & Quality Operations.

Google highlights that Lobana will now oversee Google India’s sales and operation. The company says that she will be working on strengthening Google’s engagement with India’s digital ecosystem. Additionally, she will collaborate closely with Roma Datta Chobey, who will continue as Managing Director for Google India’s Digital Native Industries. This partnership aims to accelerate innovation in sectors such as e-commerce, fintech, gaming, and media.

Lobana has been working with Google as Vice President of gTech – Process, Partner, Publisher Operations, Ads Content & Quality Operations for the last eight years. During this time, Lobana led a global team, which was working around advertising solutions and providing critical support to Google’s customers and partners worldwide.

Beyond her career at Google, Lobanahas also worked in senior leadership positions at several other prominent organisations. This includes her work as a managing director and head of global finance service India at NatWest Group, VP of Global Business services at American Express, head of banking services at Standard Chartered Bank, and Head of personal loans at ANZ Grindlays Bank. In her career span of more than 30 years, Lobana has worked in business strategy, product management, and operational excellence. Lobana is an alumna of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.

Announcing the appointment, Sanjay Gupta, President of Asia-Pacific, Google, said, “I am incredibly excited to welcome my colleague, Preeti, as our new Country Manager. Preeti’s leadership will be instrumental as we deepen our engagement with India’s unique ecosystem.”
