NFL scores: Bills win shootout over Lions, Eagles dominate Steelers

Must read

Week 15 was highlighted by two major matchups. In the first, the Eagles defeated the Steelers, 27–13. Jalen Hurts threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns. A.J. Brown had eight receptions for 110 yards, while DeVonta Smith grabbed 11 passes for 109 yards. Each receiver scored a TD.

Pittsburgh ran out the final 10:29 of the game with 21 plays on its last possession.

In what many viewed as a Super Bowl preview, the Bills won a shootout over the Lions, 48–35. As could have been expected, Buffalo had little trouble scoring on a beat-up and undermanned Detroit defense.

Josh Allen threw for 362 yards with two TDs and also rushed for two scores. James Cook also ran for two TDs with his 105 yards rushing. Jared Goff racked up 494 yards and five touchdowns passing and Amon-Ra St. Brown caught 14 passes for 93 yards. But the Lions had to play catch-up after falling behind 14–0 and could never recover.

Detroit drops to 12–2 and is now tied with the Eagles for the top record in the NFC. The Vikings could match them on Monday night with a win over the Bears.

The Broncos also strengthened their playoff position with a 31–13 win over the Colts, overcoming three Bo Nix interceptions. And the Buccaneers may have wrapped up the NFC South with a 40–17 victory versus the Chargers, led by Baker Mayfield throwing four TD passes.

Here is how the late window of Week 15’s NFL games played out on Yahoo Sports’ live blog with game updates, highlights and more.

LIVE COVERAGE IS OVER70 updates

  • One more TD for Detroit

The Lions get one more touchdown and scored 42 points for the day. But the defense gave up 48 in a shootout at Ford Field.

  • Broncos win despite 3 Bo Nix picks

Bo Nix threw three touchdowns, but also threw three interceptions. Yet the Broncos defeated the Colts, 31–13, thanks in part to a game-breaking fumble return for a TD by Nik Bonitto.

  • Eagles put the game away definitively

On their final possession, the Eagles closed out the final 10:29 of the game with 21 plays and ran out the clock.

  • Eagles beat Steelers

Philadelphia wins the Battle of Pennsylania over Pittsburgh, 27–13.

Jalen Hurts threw for 290 yards and two TDs. A.J. Brown had eight receptions for 110 yards, while DeVonta Smith grabbed 11 passes for 109 yards. Both wideouts scored touchdowns.

  • Bucs take control of NFC South

Tampa Bay may have sewn up the NFC South with its 40–17 win over the Chargers.

Baker Mayfield threw for four touchdowns and 288 yards in the win. Bucky Irving rushed for 117 yards on 15 carries and Mike Evans caught nine passes for 159 yards.

  • Courtland Sutton dekes Samuel Womack

The Broncos have another touchdown after Courtland Sutton jukes Samuel Womack for a 20-yard reception and score.

After the extra point, Denver has a 31–13 lead with 5:48 remaining in the game.

  • Lions within 10 again

Detroit scores again, completing a 70-yard drive with a one-yard Jahmyr Gibbs TD run. After the extra point, the Lions are within 45–35.

Maybe Dan Campbell had to take a risk because his defense isn’t stopping the Bills. But was that onside kick (and subseqent TD) worth it?

  • Another Colts turnover

Anthony Richardson throws his second interception, picked off by Pat Surtain. This turnover wasn’t returned for a touchdown, but it hurt the Colts’ chances for a comeback.

  • Bills make Lions pay for taking a chance

Dan Campbell calling for an onside kick looks even worse after Josh Allen hits Ray Davis on a 5-yard bootleg for a touchdown.

Buffalo takes a 45–28 lead with 11:51 left.

  • Dan Campbell gamble backfires

The Lions opt for an onside kick after their touchdown with 12 minutes remaining in the fourth.

But Mack Hollins recovers the kick and returns it 37 yards to the Lions’ 5-yard line.

  • Lions clawing back with another TD

Detroit has cut Buffalo’s lead to 10 points after a Jahmyr Gibbs 12-yard catch and run.

The Lions went 70 yards in two minutes to score with 12 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

  • Tampa Bay expands its lead

The Buccaneers increase their lead to 20 points after a Rachaad White catch and run for an 11-yard TD.

Following the extra point, Tampa Bay leads 37–17 with 7:37 remaining in the fourth quarter.

  • Arizona answers New England’s score

So much for a Patriots’ rally. The Cardinals follow up New England’s TD with a 70-yard drive finished off by another James Conner score.

  • Nik Bonitto with the steal and score

The Colts try to get fancy with a skip pass to Adonai Mitchell, who attempts to throw back to Anthony Richardson. But Denver’s Nik Bonitto steps into the passing lane like a guard making a steal in basketball and returns the fumble 50 yards for a touchdown.

Just like that, the Broncos lead by two scores over Indianapolis.

  • Broncos take 17–13 lead

Following a 61-yard punt return by Marvin Mims, Bo Nix hits Nate Adkins for a 15-yard catch and run to give Denver the lead over the Colts.

  • Lions still alive with 66-yard score

Detroit still has a deep hole to climb out from, but a 66-yard touchdown from Jared Goff to Amon-Ra St. Brown cuts the Bills’ lead to 35–21.

  • Eagles expand lead to 27–13

Jalen Hurts finishes off a 74-yard drive with a one-yard TD run on the Brotherly Shove.

Eagles take a 27–13 lead with 14:17 remaining in the fourth quarter.

  • Mayfield to Evans for another 6

Baker Mayfield and Mike Evans connect for another touchdown, this one on a 35-yard throw.

Mayfield has thrown for 3 TDs and 240 yards today.
