(Carthage Chamber) — The Carthage Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce its “A Very Merry Christmas,” local shopping campaign, an initiative to encourage shopping to support local businesses during the holiday season.

This year’s campaign emphasizes local businesses’ critical role in building a vibrant economy, fostering community connections, and creating jobs.

“Our local businesses are the heart and soul of Carthage, and the holiday season is a perfect time to show them support,” said Julie Reams, Chamber President. “When you shop local, you’re investing in your community. Every dollar spent locally strengthens our local economy, supports local jobs, and contributes to the unique character of our city.”

Shoppers are encouraged to visit participating merchants through December 20th and sign up to win. Eleven different businesses are part of this campaign. They are Garde Manger, Grace Lanes Bowling Center, Boomers BBQ & Catering, Revel Boutique, Precious Moments, Hatcher’s Coffeehouse, Boots Court, Sara Jean’s Boutique, Carthage Hardware, Motis & Co. Boutique and The Palms Massage and Day Spa. Each business will provide a $50 gift card or an item for a drawing held on December 23rd.

There is also the return of “Chamber Charlie,” the business version of Elf on the Shelf. Charlie is placed in various businesses around town, and shoppers are encouraged to take a selfie with Charlie and post the picture to social media to be entered to win a $50 Community Gift Certificate to shop at local businesses.

“This is such a fun promotion, and we have a great time moving him around each week. The businesses love it when he visits, and it’s just another way to encourage shopping here in Carthage and having some fun while doing it,” added Reams.

Why Shop Local?

    • Support Local Jobs: Small businesses create many jobs in our community.
    • Strengthen the Economy: Studies show that for every $100 spent at a locally owned business, $68 stays in the local economy.
    • Foster a Stronger Community: Local businesses contribute to community organizations, schools, and events.

The Chamber encourages everyone to make this holiday season a local one by exploring the unique offerings of neighborhood shops, restaurants, and service providers.
