More than 30 students from the LoGuidice Educational Center were recently inducted into the National Technical Honor Society.

LoGuidice Principal Jose Pagan commended the group during a ceremony held on Nov. 20 at the Fredonia campus, where friends and family were also present. To be inducted into the prestigious organization, he said the students had put forth tremendous effort and shown “great aptitude” in their chosen trade area. “Induction into the National Technical Honor Society is one of the highest accomplishments that can be bestowed upon a Career &Technical Education student,” Pagan said. “A member of the National Technical Honor Society is a person who has demonstrated scholastic achievement, skill development, leadership, honesty, responsibility, service, and good character.”

The ceremony included the installation of officers and the lighting of candles representing the attributes of a National Technical Honor Society member: Knowledge, Skill, Honesty, Service, Responsibility, Scholarship, Citizenship, and Leadership.

Alycia Lacki, NTHS advisor at LoGuidice, said she was “proud to lead such a great group of young people.”

“You all serve as not only a role model but an example to do good, not only for our school but our community,” she said.

Prior to their induction this fall, the students led a campus-wide service project to promote cancer awareness. The group has additional service projects planned, including a collaboration with The Salvation Army to help children in need from the local community.

“This is truly a great organization that comes full circle to take our leaders and educate them on how important it is to use their platform for good in this world,” Lacki said.

She also challenged the group to “never stop investing in yourself (and) to continue to live by these NTHS attributes, as they will always lead you on the right path.”

“Be the person that others choose and want to look up to,” she continued. “Your actions, your kindness, and your leadership are something that makes more of a difference than you could ever comprehend.”

The students were then led in the National Technical Honor Society pledge.
