ATLANTA — No. 2 Texas gets a chance at revenge against No. 5 Georgia in Saturday’s SEC Championship Game with a College Football Playoff first-round bye on the line.
Both teams enter the SEC title game with question marks around key players. Texas star left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. is a game-time decision after being listed as questionable on the SEC availability report earlier in the week. On the Georgia side, running back Trevor Etienne is questionable after missing the Bulldogs’ last three games, though Kirby Smart said Thursday he was hopeful Etienne would play.
The Longhorns (11-1) are a 3-point favorite over the Bulldogs (10-2) despite dropping the first meeting between the two, 30-15, at home. There’s a good chance Saturday’s SEC Championship Game feels like a road game for the Longhorns, too, in what is typically a Georgia-heavy crowd in Atlanta. The Longhorns clinched a spot with a 17-7 win over Texas A&M last weekend. Â
