Binghamton University has been ranked among the nation’s best colleges for shaping future U.S. leaders for 2025 in a list published by TIME magazine.

In addition to placing within the top 100 colleges (Binghamton came in at #99 out of 125 listed), Binghamton also emerged as the only SUNY school in this year’s ranking. To develop the ranking, TIME and Statista examined 4,000 of the most influential leaders from various areas within U.S. society, focusing on their current roles and the paths taken to reach their leadership positions.

The sample included approximately 16,000 individual career milestones sourced from corporate biographies, personal websites, official CVs and social media profiles. Among them were CEOs of Fortune 500 companies and C-suite executives, including top corporate human resources and diversity officers.

Binghamton has a longstanding reputation for being a premier destination for leadership studies. For example, the Bernard M. and Ruth R. Bass Center for Leadership Studies was founded in 1987 and housed within the University’s School of Management. The center’s mission is to generate, conduct and disseminate basic and applied research to advance the leadership effectiveness of individuals, groups and teams, as well as organizations, communities and networks.

The TIME leadership ranking comes on the heels of a series of major accolades for Binghamton. The University was recently named among the nation’s top public colleges in the “Best Value” category in the 2025 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Colleges” list.

Binghamton has also been named to The Wall Street Journal’s “2025 Best Colleges in the U.S.”, Forbes’ “America’s Top College” and The Princeton Review’s “Top 10 Best Value Colleges Without Aid.”
