CASPER, Wyo. — On Tuesday, the Casper City Council approved a pair of contracts totaling just over $494,000. The contracts are for services creating a disaster and backup solution at Casper City Hall, as well as for services related to the Westridge addition improvement plan.
The council voted to contract Advanced Network Management Inc. for $275,526.99 for the purchase, installation and configuration of a disaster and backup as-a-service solution.
According to city documents, the recent purchase and planned relocation to the Casper Business Center requires one of the city’s data centers to be relocated. The equipment at that location is also outdated and in need of replacement.
City personnel evaluated options for purchasing new equipment and building a new data center, as well as the option of partnering with a cloud-based backup and recovery service. After running the numbers, it was determined that using a cloud-based service would be cheaper even before factoring in the costs of relocation.
The money will be drawn from the budgeted monies for technology. Three years into the agreement, the service fees will be paid for via the information technology operating budget.
The City Council also approved a contract with Worthington, Lenhart and Carpenter Inc. for work to be completed as part of the second phase of the Westridge improvement project. The contract is for $218,500.
The firm will be tasked with several duties related to the project, including:
- Advertising and distributing addenda and bidding information to plan-holders
- Scheduling and organizing pre-bid meetings
- Assisting with opening, tabulation and evaluation of bids
- Providing written opinions on recommendations for bids
- Performing general administration of the construction contract
- Handling project coordination with the Department of Environmental Quality and other relevant state boards
