Three MetroWest public middle schools are among the top 20 in the state, according to recently releasedĀ U.S. News & World ReportĀ rankings for the 2024-25 school year.
More than 70,000 schools nationwide were analyzed based on a variety of factors, including student-to-teacher ratio, district spending, number of counselors and the percentage of full-time teachers who are certified.
U.S. News & World Report used U.S. Department of Education data to base its school rankings on four indicators: mathematics and reading proficiency, mathematics and reading performance. Analyzed schools were given a score based on a formula that factored in the four criteria and socioeconomic context.
Locally, Weston Middle School placed eighth, Hopkinton Middle School was 11th and Wayland Middle School was 19th. Those school districts were also among the highest ranked for high schools in the state.
The bottom of the middle school rankings includes several high schools that contain middle school grades. Rankings also include charter schools.
