CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Super Saturday is tomorrow which means many people will be out and about shopping for the holidays.
22News got a chance to see how this major shopping day along with Black Friday is helping one local business in the area.
The biggest shopping days of the year is here— Black Friday and Super Saturday bringing millions of people out their houses and to the stores every year. While this shopping experience is exciting for many shoppers, this is when the stores are really booming with business.
These two major shopping days are when people splurge on gifts for their loved ones and catch those holiday deals in the stores. Lauren Gunther says her stores Cedar Chest and Stay Golden at Thornes Marketplace have been busy all morning. “This is the second year I think we have noticed it picking up in traffic earlier in the day,” says Gunther. “You know people are still in the mood to shop and they are not necessarily having to go to the mall to get the deals. A lot of people do that shopping ahead of time so now they can come into town and shop small businesses.”
Northampton City Councilor Quaverly Rothenberg says Black Friday and Super Saturday benefit the local economy tremendously, “We are seeing a beautiful turnout downtown in Northampton especially here in the Thornes building. We are seeing families together and clearly, they spent the holiday together and we love to see them out and about. You can’t have a better place than Thornes.”
And if you didn’t make it to the stores Friday, you can still do some shopping tomorrow for Super Saturday. You can avoid getting scammed online this holiday season by avoiding suspicious links and only shopping with trusted retailers.
