Welcome to December, Capricorn. During November, your horoscope discussed how the transformative planet Pluto was moving out of your sign and into Aquarius, where it will stay for the next two decades. However, on a more immediate level, December sees the sun moving into your sign, kicking off your season.
But first, on Friday, December 6, the warrior planet Mars goes retrograde in your 8th House of Sex, Death, and Transformation. Mars rules sexual energy, ambition, and assertiveness. During this backward dance, as it affects your 8th House, it’s possible that you could notice shifts in your libido. If this happens, just embrace whatever comes up. Mars retrograde, which lasts between now and the end of February, could also see you less interested in work than usual. Not all Capricorns fit the stereotype of being obsessed with their jobs, although some do. If you tend to work hard, you can look at Mars retrograde as an opportunity to step back and unwind.
Also on Friday, December 6, the loving planet Venus enters Aquarius and your 2nd House of Possessions. We can’t make predictions in this economy, but Venus does rule money, and when it’s stationed in your 2nd House, the stars at least are feeling generous. But most of the associations with Venus are tied to romantic love. As your 2nd House also rules emotions, which you must own, too, know that this first weekend could just see you relaxing into a relationship, whether it’s something new or established.
The next day, Saturday, December 7, Ceres, the asteroid of nurturance, joins Venus in your 2nd House. This simply reiterates the fact that this weekend is going to be very loving and cozy. Also on Saturday, December 7, the dreamy planet Neptune ends its retrograde and goes direct in your 3rd House of Communication. It feels like a fog is lifted when this happens. As it occurs in your 3rd House, if there’s any miscommunications or disagreements that have been taking place with friends or lovers, they should work themselves out.
Mending of misunderstandings continues to take place when messenger Mercury ends its retrograde and goes direct on Sunday, December 15. This also means that upcoming holiday travel should be easier. There’s also a Gemini full moon on Sunday, December 15. This moon phase, which marks manifestation, takes place in your self-care-oriented 6th House. It’s a cosmic encouragement to relax and indulge guilt-free in beauty routines. Rather than worry you about health, your 6th House just wants you to know it’s okay to embrace vanity. The sun enters your sign, Capricorn, on the Winter Solstice on Saturday, December 21. Happy solar return! Make sure to find time to celebrate your birthday in between visiting family or friends for other winter holidays. The Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year, making it ideal to get cozy. This date is also Yule, which you can think of as a witchy Christmas. Many Christmas traditions, such as decorating trees or lighting candles, began as Yule traditions.
Try to connect with chosen family when Chiron ends its retrograde.
Try to connect with chosen family on or around Sunday, December 29. Chiron, an asteroid known as the wounded healer, ends its retrograde and goes direct in your 4th House. This healing transit is perfect for connecting with friends after the stress that can come with seeing blood relatives. Even if you have a great relationship with yours, your friends may not, so it’s important to make time for one another.
Finally, the month comes to a close with a dark new moon in your sign on Monday, December 30. New moons are perfect for fresh starts. So, while focusing on being happy, rather than putting undue pressure on yourself, if you want, this date is great for setting intentions for the New Year. Have fun when you celebrate all of the holidays this month, including your season, and we’ll see you in 2025.
