LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – It’s been decades of the colonias on 59 being without sewer or water, at a recent Webb County Commissioner’s Court, submission of a grant was approved to fund water infrastructure in the area.
The amount received could be up to $1 million, the grant would help fund the running water lines from the City of Laredo to the colonias.
While the county has made strides in bringing running water to certain parts of the region, much work remains to be done.
According to Webb County Commissioner for Precinct 2, Rosaura “Wawi” Tijerina, “We are working on the hydroplanes that will be able to provide two gallons of drinking water. The rest can be used to bathe and do things like that.”
The Economic Development Department would ensure that all requirements for submission are met.
