The Detroit Lions are on one heck of a roll right now. They ripped off their ninth-straight win on Sunday, a 24-6 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. The Lions are now 10-1, tied with the Kansas City Chiefs for the best record in the NFL.
The Lions did all their scoring on the ground on Sunday. QB Jared Goff was more than serviceable, throwing for no interceptions — but no touchdowns, either. Instead, it was all about the rush. Jahmyr Gibbs ran for two touchdowns, and David Montgomery ran for one. This was the Lions’ sixth consecutive win away from Ford Field. As Dan Campbell said after the game, “If you can win on the road, you’re normally a pretty damn good team. And we can win on the road.”
Getting their ninth-straight win probably feels good for the Lions, but one thing might feel even better: getting their 10th win of the season. For the first time in franchise history, the Lions have won at least 10 games in two consecutive seasons — a staggering statistic considering that the franchise, which began as the Portsmouth Spartans, have been in the NFL since 1930. Their 10-1 start also ties the 1934 Lions for the best start to any season in franchise history.
