Experts have discovered a search term that has been hijacked by cybercriminals to gain access to your computer.
Typing the words “Are Bengal cats legal in Australia” into Google delivered results at the top of the search that were potentially disastrous for users.
Hackers had created fake websites that if clicked on would download malicious software, known as malware, onto the searcher’s computer.
The malware can steal personal data, financial details and login credentials and also give hackers remote access to a computer. The infected device can also help spread software to other computers.
