Friday and Saturday, Nov. 15 and 16, locations vary
Several teams throughout Whatcom and Skagit counties will compete in the 16-team state football brackets for a shot at the title. If local teams win, a handful will be high seeds, host a couple of games and be favorites for a state title. You can find the schedule to all the games on the WIAA website.
WWU men’s basketball vs. Cal Poly Humboldt
7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 at Carver Gymnasium
Western men’s basketball will complete its opening season West Region Crossover against Cal Poly Humboldt. The Vikings will look to capture a couple of wins and find some early rhythm with a ton of new players on the roster.
Meridian Turkey Trot Fun Run
9 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 16 at Bellewood Acres
Meridian High School’s cross country team is raising funds for its program with this fun run. People are welcome to join for $15 and choose to walk, jog or run. Winning prizes include gift cards to Fairhaven Runner, Bellewood Farms and The Lodge Coffee, and even a turkey.
