The first Saturday of November is here, and it’s a critical moving day in conference title races and within the national picture. With the College Football Playoff set to release its first batch of rankings next week, Week 10 offers teams a final chance to make an impression on the selection committee before learning where they stand.
Saturday’s action comes in three waves, starting at noon Eastern with a seismic showdown between No. 3 Penn State and No. 4 Ohio State. While the Big Ten battle between the Nittany Lions and Buckeyes is the highlight of the day, there are plenty of other interesting matchups to monitor.
Among them is No. 1 Oregon’s trip to Michigan in the afternoon window on CBS. The unbeaten Ducks are significant favorites, but the Wolverines have a strong defensive front and a significant homefield advantage on their side. The evening window will be highlighted by a couple of games involving top-10 SEC teams as No. 10 Texas A&M travels to South Carolina and No. 7 Tennessee hosts Kentucky.
However, the stakes may be highest in the ACC on Saturday evening. No. 11 Clemson hosts Louisville and No. 20 SMU hosts Pittsburgh in a pair of contests that will impact the conference title race.
