Monumental Sports Network Unveils 2024-25 Original Programming Details – Monumental Sports

Highly anticipated ‘Politics Aside with Chris Cillizza’ will debut on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 6:30 PM 

 

Washington, D.C. (October 28, 2024) – Monumental Sports Network (MNMT) announced today several details about the independent media platform’s upcoming season of original programming, airing on linear TV and available to MNMT subscribers on monumentalplus.com and the brand-new Monumental+ app. After earning multiple awards last season for shows like Hometown with Rachel Nichols and Caps Red Line, MNMT’s programming lineup is continuing to expand during the 2024-25 season.

Politics Aside with Chris Cillizza 

Premiering on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 6:30 PM ET, veteran CNN and Washington Post political reporter Chris Cillizza will host Politics Aside with Chris Cillizza, a brand-new program that will delve into the intersection of sports and our nation’s most influential political figures. In the debut episode, America’s Game, Chris delves into the longstanding bond between politics and America’s pastime. Featuring Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Congressman Greg Steube (R-FL), the episode reveals how baseball unites lawmakers across party lines, fostering a spirit of collaboration on Capitol Hill. Then in episode two, Puck Politics, Chris laces up his skates alongside Representatives Mike Quigley (D-IL) and Pete Stauber (R-MN), uncovering the surprising hockey passion that runs through Congress. They’ll swap stories and explore which is tougher: navigating the rink or legislating in the Capitol. Episode two will air on Monday, Nov. 18 at 6:30 PM ET and future episode guests and airtimes will be announced throughout the season.  

 

Hometown with Rachel Nichols 

After an exciting debut last season, Hometown with Rachel Nichols returns to Monumental Sports Network for season two, featuring the award-winning journalist and sportscaster getting to know sports and entertainment stars native to her hometown of Washington, D.C. In episode one, Rachel meets up with four-time Olympic medalist, icon and gymnastics trailblazer, Dominique Dawes. Dawes teaches Rachel techniques on the balance beam and then they discuss how Dominique dealt with the toxic culture of her sport early in her career. Other season two episodes will feature Washington Capitals captain and forward Alex Ovechkin, Washington Wizards guard Jordan Poole, Wizards head coach Brian Keefe, Capitals forwards Hendrix Lapierre and Connor McMichael, Wizards guard Malcolm Brogdon, local football legend Vernon Davis, actors and D.C. natives Ben Feldman (Mad Men, Superstore) and Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul), and former Capitals goalie Olie Kölzig. The season two premiere will air on Monday, Oct. 28 at 6:30 PM ET, and episode two – featuring Davis – will follow on Monday, Nov. 11 at the same time. Future episode guests and airtimes will be announced throughout the season. 

Caps Red Line, Beyond the Buzzer & Caps Rink Report  

On alternating Mondays at 5:00 PM ET, magazine style showsCaps Red LineandBeyond the Buzzerwill continue to provide fans with a glimpse into all the best behind-the-scenes moments of the Capitals and Wizards seasons. John Walton and Tarik El-Bashir will also bring back Caps Rink Report, reporting on the latest storylines during the Capitals 50th anniversary season.   

Monumental Sports Network’s original programming and live games are available to local fans both on linear tv and via streaming platforms within the network’s coverage area, stretching from Richmond to Delaware.
