Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump claimed on Joe Rogan’s podcast that Google CEO Sundar Pichai called him to praise his recent visit to McDonald’s.
“I visited McDonald’s last week, and Sundar Pichai called me up and said ‘This McDonald’s thing was one of the biggest things we have ever had on Google. It just hit’,” Trump told Rogan, drawing a laugh from the latter.
The remark follows Trump’s earlier claims that Google had been skewing search results to diminish his online visibility during his campaign rallies. Trump said he previously contacted Pichai to report the issue.
Trump recently spent time at a McDonald’s outlet in Pennsylvania and worked as a fry cook. The former president claimed he worked “15 minutes more” than his Democratic challenger Kamala Harris, who claims to have worked at the fast food chain in her younger days.
“She lied about McDonald’s,” Trump alleged.
Asked if it was proven that Harris has never worked in McDonald’s, Trump asserted, “Hundred per cent. The whole McDonald’s has no information and she also has no information. The manager said she had never worked at the store at this certain place. She lied.”
Vice-President Harris earlier mentioned in an MSNBC interview that she was in McDonald’s because it was very common to work at the fast food chain back in the days while growing up to support working families. However, McDonald’s distanced themselves from the debate, claiming that they don’t have records of workers during 1980s.
The presidential race between Trump and Harris is heating up as election day approaches on November 5.
