The October Full Supermoon in Aries Is So Julia

Must read

Confidence? Check. That Girl status? Check. Fully out there in a fearless way? Check, check, check. This October 17, the full supermoon in Aries fuels everyone’s desire for maximum exposure. Is it cringey to admit out loud? Nope, not today.

Full moons are spotlight moments. Period. During these cinematic monthly events, the night sky is lit up to its brightest wattage, inviting us to keep on dancing at the planetary Pink Pony Club. It doesn’t matter whether you’re wearing over-the-knee go-go boots or a classic Adidas Samba—as long as you’re being unapologetically you, then you’ve aced the astrological assignment.

Double that impact when it’s a supermoon, which means the full moon is at the closest distance possible to the Earth as it orbits around us. Not only can it appear brighter and fuller, but its effects on our emotions can be stronger. Empaths: Take note, because you might need to stay extra aware of your boundaries under this lunar light.

Every fall, we get a full moon in flamboyant, fire sign Aries. For better or worse, this raises the level of rambunctiousness even higher. As the first sign of the zodiac, Aries serves pure originality. Moreover, it loves to be No. 1. Competition can be healthy and fun, Aries reminds us, so why not be the fiercest person in the room?

We’re not talking about a Regina George redux here. Like the unabashedly pro-woman Julia Fox (who is an Aquarius sun sign, but gives Aries in her messaging), the zodiac’s Ram believes in building others up. Plenty of real-deal Aries are feminist icons, from Gaga to Gloria Steinem. We might see a surge of woman-powered support for Kamala Harris rise up again near the full moon. (Maybe another one of those 40,000-person Zoom calls?)

Aries is also a cardinal sign, the natural trailblazers and leaders of the pack (which we call the Innovators in our I*AM System). Where do you need to take charge in your life? Get your hands back on the wheel, even if you’re driving into the sunset by your damn self. Autonomous Aries understands the power and magic of an independent existence. This full moon may be a reclamation of the parts of your life that you’ve abandoned to please others or fit in. Aries can be a bit entitled, so make sure you don’t swing to that opposite, unappealing extreme.

The October full moon is specifically called the Hunter’s Moon, but in reality, every full moon is essentially a moment for hitting the target. Astrologers peer back six months, to the corresponding new moon, to see where best to aim your efforts.

In this case, it dates back to the April 8 total solar eclipse in Aries, the one that was visible in New York City and across the Midwest. Remember that? Seeds you planted under that new moon could be ripe and ready for the picking this October 17.

A word about eclipses, like the one back on April 8: They can be a bit unpredictable, spinning up drama from out of left field and forcing us to look at things that we’d rather keep sweeping under the sheepskin rug. Have you been choosing denial? This full supermoon might deliver some eye-opening wake-up calls. Fortunately, there’s no sign more courageous than the zodiac’s Ram. If you need to put your horns down and go head-to-head with someone, watch this now.
