It’s been about a year since officials broke ground on the Buc-ee’s Travel Center site on the Mississippi Coast, and people are working around the clock to get the massive megastore open.

Crews are working 7 days a week at the store site and the exit off Interstate 10, according to the Sun Herald. Roads are being widened, massive parking lots are being paved and the walls are up for the 75,000-square-foot building.

Large beams that will support 120 fueling stations are also up, and an awning over the gas pumps will come soon.

This Buc-ee’s in Pass Christian will be the closest one to New Orleans. Hiring has begun and jobs are posted online. The Sun Herald reported that in most cases, Buc-ee’s posts jobs about three months before the store officially opens.

West of New Orleans, the city of Lafayette is set to give final approval to a new tax district to make way for a Buc-ee’s there. It it sent to open in late 2025
