Halloween is just three weeks away, which means it’s already time to start shopping for the holidays.

Americans spent $964 billion during the 2023 holiday shopping season, according to the National Retail Federation, a trade group.

Meanwhile the dockworker’s strike that hit 36 ports from Maine to Texas this month — and had the potential to cause massive disruptions ahead of holiday shopping this year — lasted just three days. Experts assured that any backlog could be cleared even well before Halloween.

Garden State Plaza in Paramus, a mall at the busy intersection of Routes 4 and 17, said it is opening seven new stores, restaurants and attractions, some of them ready for the holiday season, in addition to upgrades on existing storefronts.

“We are thrilled to welcome this exciting mix of new brands and enhanced shopping experiences ahead of the holiday season,” said Wesley Rebisz, the mall’s general manager.

Here’s the breakdown of new stores opening at the mall this fall and winter:

  • Yeti: Providing coolers, drinkware and gear with a November opening date
  • Thursday Boot Company: Selling boots and footwear with a November opening date
  • New Boutiques in Neiman Marcus: Boutique mini-stores Christian Dior and Chanel, offering fashion accessories and beauty products
  • NERF Action Xperience: 25,000-square-foot space blaster battle zones using Nerf’s foam-based toy weapons, sports challenges such as basketball shooting games, an obstacle course, retail store, and food and beverage
  • KURA Sushi: Conveyor-belt sushi restaurant
  • EAK Ramen: Offering traditional Japanese ramen
  • Blenoi Crepes: French-inspired sweet and savory crepes

Specific dates are not set yet, but KURA Sushi, EAK Ramen, and Blenoir Crepes will all open by the end of 2024 and the Neiman Marcus Boutiques and NERF Action Xperience will open by March of 2025.

Here’s the breakdown of existing stores that are being upgraded:

  • Tous: Spanish jewelry store undergoing a “modernized” space renovation
  • Claire’s: Offering a revamped look in time for the holidays
  • Journeys: Relocating closer to the food court with a larger footprint that combines Journeys and Journeys Kidz in one store
