Good morning! It’s day 11 of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Here’s what you should be looking out for today.
There are 15 medal events on offer today, including five in track and field and the first gold medals in boxing and wrestling.
The U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) takes on Germany in the soccer semifinals at 12:00 p.m. ET and 6:00 p.m. local time. The U.S. beat Germany 4-1 in group play earlier in the Games, but Germany won gold at Rio in 2016 so it won’t be a straightforward game for either team. The winner advances to the gold medal game against the winner of the other semifinal between Brazil and reigning world champions Spain, which takes place at 3:00 p.m. ET and 9:00 p.m. local time.
Elsewhere, there are five more track and field finals at the Stade de France. Women’s hammer throw takes place at 1:57 p.m. ET and 7:57 p.m. local time, with DeAnna Price competing for Team USA; men’s long jump is at 2:15 p.m. ET and 8:15 p.m. local time; the men’s 1,500m final is at 2:50 p.m. ET and 8:50 p.m. local time; the women’s 3,000m steeplechase is at 3:14 p.m. ET and 9:14 p.m. local time; and Gabby Thomas carries America’s hopes in the women’s 200m final at 3:40 p.m. ET and 9:40 p.m. local time.
In men’s basketball, Team USA takes on Brazil in the quarterfinals, so hoops fans have another chance to watch Anthony Edwards and Kevin Durant try to extend their scoring runs from group play. The winner of the game, which takes place at 3:30 p.m. ET and 9:30 p.m. local time, plays the winner of Serbia versus Australia, which takes place seven hours earlier.
