A mom is going viral on TikTok after sharing that her 10-year-old daughter had an unusual request when shopping for a birthday gift for her friend: that they go to Home Depot to buy it.
In the video, TikTok user Cari Rynearson — the little girl’s mom — stares at the camera in disbelief while she asks, “Can anyone tell me what could possibly be at Home Depot for my 10-year-old daughter to suggest going there to get her best friend a birthday present?”
With more than 2. million views, the video elicited dozens of comments from those asking what Rynearson’s daughter ended up buying at the hardware store.

In a followup video, Rynearson asks her daughter directly, “People want to know what you want to go to Home Depot for.”
Her daughter responds with a one-word answer: “Slime.”
“The best slime is there,” the girl adds of Home Depot’s selection.
Rynearson’s daughter later realizes that she may have been confused, adding, “Maybe I was wrong … it’s Hobby Lobby.”
Still, many TikTok users have offered their takes on what a 10-year-old could purchase at Home Depot.
“The possibilities are endless with a 2×4,” wrote one.
Added another: “20V MAX cordless, half-inch drill.”
“Home Depot weirdly has really good candy,” offered another.
Others have even written Rynearson to tell her their own kids have purchased gifts at Home Depot, with one noting in the comment section: “My 5/yo wanted to go to Home Depot to ‘get something nice for the whole family’ and proceeded to buy a road cone.”
